Durability and UV Testing

Ultrablade UV and Durability Testing
No
one anywhere in the world uses a higher quality sports turf fiber for infill
systems than Sprinturf -- because there is none! We couldn't spend more money on
our fiber if we wanted to.
We use only the
best fiber, and more of it, because it's so important to our patented Sprinturf
all-rubber infill turf system. We've chosen Ultrablade™, XP100™, and LSR 8,000 -
11,000 Dtex fibers for our turf, because they are stronger, softer, and more
natural than any other fibers.
In fact, our new
Ultrablade™ grass fibers are 3X Stronger than LSR fibers used in other synthetic
turf.
They not only
closely mimic all the characteristics of the real thing, but they hold up much
better as you can see from the testing below.
Pay particular attention to
the UV testing. Ultraviolet rays are a major cause of failed systems, especially
in our desert climate.
Testing for UV Resistance.
Sprinturf uses
Thiolon® fiber exclusively. One of our products is a 100% polyethylene LSR,
8,000 - 11,000 DTEX fiber with stabilizers to resist ultraviolet (UV) rays that
can make other fibers brittle and lose strength after exposure.
EXPOSURE IN THE
WEATHER-O-METER
Testing: Thiolon®
Grass subjected its LSR fiber to extended exposure in the Weather-O-Meter (WOM),
a machine that can simulate outdoor conditions of sunlight and rain. The tensile
strength of the fibers was measured every 1,000 hours; the normal reduction in
strength among competitors' fiber is 50 percent after 4,000 hours.

Conclusion:
Sprinturf’s Thiolon® LSR has outstanding resistance to UV degradation and will
retain its superior playing characteristics for years longer than other
synthetic turf fibers.

The Lisson Test
for Durability
Sprinturf uses
Thiolon® fiber exclusively. One of our products is a 100% polyethylene LSR,
8,800 - 11,000 DTEX fiber with unsurpassed durability, as the Lisson test
confirms. The Lisson test is a visual evaluation used by the carpet industry to
determine wear in tufted materials.
Testing: After 500
walks of a mechanic foot over the sample, the change is evaluated and valued
with a number between 1 and 5, where 1 is the worst and 5 is the best possible
event. Under change of structure, post-fibrillation, twisting and flattening of
the grass yarns is considered.

Conclusion:
Manufactured tough, Sprinturf’s Thiolon® LSR fiber holds form and offers
superior consistency.

Testing for
Abrasiveness
Sprinturf uses
Thiolon® fiber exclusively. One of our products is a 100% polyethylene LSR,
8,800 - 11,000 DTEX fiber with ultra low abrasion properties.
TABOR ABRASION
TEST
Testing: Comparing
the abrasive indexes of Sprinturf Thiolon® LSR and a competitor's fiber with a
Tabor Abraser - a machine considered the industry standard and endorsed by the
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) - in applications for soccer,
tennis and field hockey.

Conclusion: On
average, the abrasion of Sprinturf’s Thiolon® LSR fiber is 25-35% less than
Bonar, which results in a longer lifetime for the turf.
